"There just needs to be more options when it comes to combining eating with running!"  Chris said to Pete as they drove home to DC from their annual run in the Krispy Kreme Challenge in NC.  And so the DC Half and Half Marathon was born!

Join Pete and Chris Magnuson as they build a run that taps into our city's rich history for a great cause!

We hit the ground running!

It's great to have an idea but even better to put it in motion.

On May 1st, 2010, Pete, Chris and friend Dave tested out the DC Half and Half Marathon concept.  We wanted to know if it would be possible to eat a half smoke halfway through a half marathon?

We found out that it is a LOT easier to eat a half smoke than run 13.1 miles!

But the good news is that we had fun and no complications from the experiment.

Our next step was to see how many other people would be willing to do the same thing.

It turns out there were a lot!

The DC Half and Half Marathon benefits ScholarCHIPS.

Co-founder of the DC Half and Half Marathon, Chris Magnuson, taught an amazing 7th grader in 2005 by the name of Yasmine Arrington.  As the daughter of an incarcerated father, Yasmine asked "Why isn't there a college scholarship for a student like me?"

She answered this question by starting her own organization: ScholarCHIPS!  Please support Chris' former student as well as an amazing organization that is filling a badly needed gap in the funding of college for deserving students in the DMV area.
